IT IS TIME
…for the everyday people of the world - of all ages and backgrounds - to work together to find Solutions to all the problems that our political leaders (a) will never solve and (b) have often caused!
There are countless numbers of problems that need to be addressed, nine of which* (further below) we are particularly drawn to;
**ALSO, there are four initiatives that we have done in past years that we believe today's public must be made aware of:
(1) Bronx Alternative High School Students Write About Police Brutality (1997), which you can see here.
(2) IT IS TIME - Classroom Connections, wherein high school students from diverse backgrounds and 'different worlds' exchange ideas, get to know each other, and work together in order to counteract stereotyping, increase intercultural harmony, and improve the world we are living in. (1968-1997, and 1997-present) See here.
(3) the Stevenson Improvement Club Student Survey - a
student-designed survey administered to 1,798 Stevenson
High School (Bronx, NY) students in 1986 (The survey can be found here or via the Stevenson Improvement Club Page)
(4) the Freedom School at Hempstead (Long Island, NY) High School (1970); wherein ten students who were doing terribly in regular classes (constant discipline problems and failing 52 of their 57 courses) were transferred to an off-campus, democratically run alternative program.
Additionally, we are currently trying to figure out the best way/s to develop a Solutions initiative, wherein, as indicated above, people of all ages and backgrounds will work together to solve as many local and global problems as we can!
*Specific It Is Time concerns:
*fighting bigotry and increasing mutual respect,
*participating in grassroots problem-solving,
*transforming education,
*helping to create a fair economic system,
*designing an honest and equitable voting process,
*stopping the wanton poisoning and devastation of nature's resources,
*redesigning our justice (or injustice) and prison systems; and
identifying and working to alleviate as many as possible of the
root causes of crime,
*stopping war and other forms of violence
See ABOUT for more details.
